
CHINA AIR TRANSPORT ASSOCIATION (CATA) was founded as the sponsoring organization by eight
major Chinese airlines and one academic university, including China National Aviation Holding Company,
China Eastern Air Holding Company, China Southern Air Holding Company, to name a few. CATA, a social
industrial association with the airlines as the core, was established on September 9th, 2005.
Mr. Li Jiaxiang, Minister of CAAC and Mr. Kong Dong, General Manager of China National Aviation Holding
Company in turn assumed President of the Council of First Session. Now, Mr. Liu Shaoyong, General
Manager of China Eastern Air Holding Company assumes President of the Council of Second Session. On
June 5th, 2009, CATA has been included on the list of “5A social organization” by the Ministry of Civil Affairs
of the People’s Republic of China.
CATA acts as a tie and bridge between the government and the enterprises or between the enterprises,
and to promote China’s civil aviation industry to develop in a safety, healthy, harmonious and continuous
way.

Chinese Society of Aeronautics and Astronautics (CSAA) is an academic, non-profit and national legal
entity based on voluntary membership of scientists and engineer in aeronautics and astronautics.
CSAA established in February 1964, has 130 corporate members and over 30,000 formally registered
individual members. CSAA now has 7 working committees and has set up 28 technical committees. There
are 17 local societies of aeronautics and astronautics. These local organizations are working under the
guidance of CSAA.
CSAA’s main functions are as follows: organization of academic exchange activities, science
